FSI-Simulation of a High Pressure Compressor

In order to analyse the stresses of HPC blades for repair purposes, a comprehensive, full detailed simulation of the entire compressor assembly has been carried out. The deformation of all the components has been considered using the Fluid-Structure-Interaction-Approach, so that the "hot" geometry could be analysed. Afterwards, additional FE-calculations using the modal superposition approach have been used to calculate the time-depending stress-field of the blades.

In a transcatheter percutaneous aortic valve implantation (TAVI), the interaction of blood, stent and aorta are of central importance to determine implants lifetime.
CADFEM (Suisse) AG and ADMEDES SCHUESSLER GmbH developed together a numerical modeling procedure using commercial software to consider stent crimping and release against the aortic wall followed by a fluid-structure transient simulation during one systolic pulse.

Our customer Grande Dixence SA is a leading supplier of electrical power and owner of the tallest gravity dam in the world. Several pressure control valves of the hydroelectric power plant had to be inspected in a revision campaign. Due to working conditions different than those used in the design phase 55 years ago, the mechanical behavior of these valves had to be analyzed in order to guarantee the mechanical integrity of the system.
A one way fluid-structure simulation was performed to determine the pressure acting on the valve during the newly defined operating conditions and the structural behavior of the system. The most critical areas to be carefully checked in the revision campaign have been highlighted.
