Multiphysics simulations in MEMS piezo inkjet unit design

The complex physics in inkjet units is investigated with different simulation types at increasing level of complexity. The analyses types vary from static analyses on the actuator, via modal and harmonic analysis up to transient analysis on a complete unit with all involved physics and appropriate two-way couplings in the modeling. The modeling is used for design optimization, tolerance analysis and gathering increased insight in the inkjet unit behavior.

In a transcatheter percutaneous aortic valve implantation (TAVI), the interaction of blood, stent and aorta are of central importance to determine implants lifetime.
CADFEM (Suisse) AG and ADMEDES SCHUESSLER GmbH developed together a numerical modeling procedure using commercial software to consider stent crimping and release against the aortic wall followed by a fluid-structure transient simulation during one systolic pulse.
